The Five Elements in Qimen (for learning purposes)

Pick two elements and an aspect of life. See whether they produce or clash, how their energy shifts, and what that means for your question.

How to use this in a chart

  1. Find the Subject palace and note its element.
  2. Find the Answer palace and note its element.
  3. Check the relationship between them: produce, clash or same.
  4. Check the energy of each side before you read it.
  5. Read it for the aspect of life in the question.
1First element Subject

You, or the person the question is about. Use the element of the Subject palace.

2Second element Answer

The matter, the outcome or the other party. Use the element of the Answer palace.

3Aspect of life
4Energy level Optional

A very big gap in strength stops the normal relationship from working.

Important: to know the energy level of each element, you need to learn about Taisui 太岁. This is taught in Qimen Training.

Learning note: This page explains only the five-element relationship between two palaces for learning purposes.

A real reading looks at the whole chart — stems, palace, deity, star, door, Fuyin/Fanyin, Stem and Stem combinations, Grave, Six Punishments, emptiness, horse and the question asked.
