Find your palace and its components yourself: Find Your Birth Palaces guide

Add the components from your Qimen birth palace to explore how traditional character interpretations may relate to the learning activities in your shortlisted majors. Use this as another layer of consideration alongside your interests, academic readiness and real experiences.

Find your components in three steps

  1. Open the Find Your Birth Palaces guide (new tab) and follow it to find your birth palace.
  2. Note what is in that palace: your Day Stem, Deity, Star, Door and whether the Horse is there.
  3. Come back to this tab and choose them from the lists below. Your answers here stay in place.
Open Find Your Birth Palaces ↗
  • Deity — top of the palace
  • Star — bottom left
  • Door — shown as “Gate” in M.Qimen
  • Day Stem — your own stem; your Day Stem palace reflects the character you showed early in life
  • Horse 马 — the horse mark, if present

This page does not work out your palace for you. M.Qimen settings, life stages, emptiness (空亡) and Tai Sui are explained in the Find Your Birth Palaces guide, not here, so readings that depend on them are not shown.

Latest information from Singapore’s universities. Each time this page opens, it loads the newest Graduate Employment Survey figures published as open data by the Ministry of Education and the six autonomous universities (NUS, NTU, SMU, SUTD, SIT and SUSS). They appear in each study direction under “Official data”.

Loading the latest official data…

Entry requirements, programmes and grade profiles change every year and are not available as live data. Check each university’s current page on the MOE website:

Your browser asks data.gov.sg for the public survey figures directly. None of your answers or Qimen selections are sent anywhere. Past graduate outcomes are not a promise of future employment or salaries.

How the matching works

This is a simple, open set of rules — an exploration aid, not a validated aptitude assessment. It does not give suitability percentages.

Your answerHow it is used
Activities you enjoy (Q1)Main signal. Each major lists the activities it draws on most.
Subjects: enjoy / do well / both (Q4)Main signal. “I enjoy this” shows interest; “I currently do well in this” shows readiness; “Both” counts a little more.
What you want from university (Q2)Refines the list: profession-focused, broad, subject-led or venture-building courses move up slightly.
How focused (Q3)Refines the list: specialised or broad courses move up slightly. “Combine two interests” keeps two different fields in your list.
Work priorities (Q5)“Helping others” lifts people-focused courses slightly. Income, stability and growth do not change the list, because they depend on dated outcome data — they add questions for you to check against the official data instead.

Refinements only adjust majors that already connect with your activities or subjects. Labels mean: Strong overlap — three or more of your answers connect; Some overlap — one or two connect; Alternative worth exploring — included from a different field to widen your view.

The Qimen reflection never changes this list. Its learning links are practical applications written for this page from Patrick’s published character notes — not classical text.

Its outputs, including the Qimen character reflections, are not recommendations or advice on which major, course or subject you should pursue. Qimen is offered only as another layer of consideration and is not an assessment of academic ability or a prediction of performance. An apparent character connection does not mean that you will do well in, enjoy or succeed in a particular major or subject. A weaker or mixed connection does not mean that you cannot succeed. Consider your interests, academic results, entry requirements, course content, finances and real experiences, and seek appropriate education and career guidance before making your decision.
